Unfortuantely I have no idea about where you may find homework resources for English. You could check out classzone.com
I know that it has lots of resources for math and biology but I have never investigated it for english.
Like you I have students complain about not completeing homework so i do like so many of my other teachers I allow them the last 10 mins of class to get working on the homework and then they only have to finish it up at home if not completed in class.

  2. Joy,
Motivating students to complete homework is an issue at my school as well. For mys students in the past, I have used journal writing for English homework. The possibilties are endelss because you can apply journal entries to whatever skills you are currently focusing on. You may even ofer them the option of using a blog as an electronic journal for some added motivation.

  3. Lorna, Thank you for your suggestion about giving them some time in class to complete their homwork. Unfortunately I do allow them to work on their homework in class, what they don't finish in class ends up being homeowork, so they end up completing most of it then take it home and just don't do it.

Sarah, I have definitley thought about having them blog for writing assignments. I feel that blogging at home can really make writing fun. I was given the idea to even use blogging as a tool for keeping track of students reading logs, that way they can suggets novels to read to other students too.

Thank you both for your comments!
